Our team is widely experienced in providing specialist reptile and amphibian services. From initial surveys to planning, mitigation in implimentation, we are able to offer bespoke packages to a range of clients.
Our processes include an initial Phase 1 assessment to determine the likelihood of reptile or amphibian presence, followed by presence/absence surveys. Following the results of our surveys we will guide our clients through the subsequent steps to ensure a smooth and timely result. It is most common for our surveys to be conducted between the months of April-September.
About our herpetofauna:
The UK is home to six species of native reptile and 7 species of amphibian, including 3 species of lizard and 3 snakes. Their populations vary across the country, and so Smooth Snakes (Coronella austriaca), Sand Lizards (Lacerta agilis) and Great Crested Newts (Triturus cristatus) require specialist licenses due to their decline. Information on reptile protection can be found within the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (as amended), the Conservation (Natural Habitats &c.) Regulations 1994 (as amended) and the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000.
