We are able to offer a selection of services for badgers, including surveys, enhancements and mitigation. Client packages are examined on a case-by-case basis to ensure all laws are observed at each stage of project delivery. We are experienced in obtaining mitigation licences from Natural England for our clients.
Our process involves initial presence surveys: assessing for evidence such as setts footprints or latrines, often undertaken as part of a Phase 1 survey. Following this we can provide detailed assessments and monitoring to assist in designing appropriate mitigation.
About the animal:
The European Badger (Meles meles) are heavily protected by UK law, including the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (as amended) and the Protection of Badgers Act 1992, which consolidates and improves previous legislation including the Badgers (Further Protection) Act 1991. These legislation documents outline the seriousness of offence to kill, injure or remove a badger, or to damage or interfere with a sett without a license obtained from a statutory authority.
