Some days you look outside the window and see only a grey drabness. Other days you look out and there is that crisp brightness. This can vastly affect our urge to go outside!
The slow march of change is happening all around us; on those brighter crisp days we notice it more and feel more positive about it. But there is a reason for these dull dark days; they provide the signal for life to go into rest and recuperation mode, preparing for next year’s race. The cooler nights, the dullness and wetness are the signals for life to slow down. For other life forms these signals are the trigger for a new season of activity… No matter what the time of year there is always something to be seen. We also have the choice to not hibernate or slow down, all it takes is the right clothing!
Whatever the weather, EHM will still be out and about this season… Next on the list is surveying fungi and winter birds.
