Birds protected species

All wild birds are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act WCA 1981 (as amended). Some species (listed in Schedule 1 of the WCA) are also protected by special penalties.

Our ecologists are experienced in a range of surveys of breeding birds using methodologies such as the Common Bird Census (CBC) and Breeding Bird Survey (BBS). We also carry out surveys for a range of specific species of bird, such as kingfisher and barn owl. Non-breeding and wintering bird surveys are also often undertaken for larger developments where necessary.

EHM are also experienced in the side of habitat creation and enhancement for birds.
